HEADACHE TIPS FROM A COLORADO SPRINGS CHIROPRACTOR
It’s probably no surprise that just about everyone in Colorado Springs suffers from periodic headaches. While most do not typically require medical attention, they often will begin to interfere with daily activities. Over time, these small headaches begin affecting your daily life and function, leaving you overwhelmed and frustrated.
That’s why our Colorado Springs chiropractic office has come up with a few tips to help you find relief and stay one step ahead of your headaches.
WHY DOES MY HEAD HURT in Colorado Springs?
You’ve probably found yourself googling this question once or twice before. The fact is, there are a lot of different reasons behind what may be causing your headaches. Many headaches can be caused by a variety of triggers such as specific foods, smells, bright lights, loud noises, blood sugar changes, improper diet, poor posture, poor sleeping habits, improper workout form, and even just using the wrong type of pillow at night.
According to the Mayo Clinic, “a primary headache is actually caused by overactivity of or problems with pain-sensitive structures in your head.” Meaning, most headaches are the result of muscle tension in your upper neck and back. This can be from sleeping improperly, poor posture, sitting at a desk all day and many other lifestyle factors.
The good thing is, our Colorado Springs chiropractors are trained to get to the root cause of the muscle tension in your upper neck and back so that you can get rid of your headache symptoms once and for all.
HOW CAN I GET RID OF MY HEADACHES?
The most important thing our Colorado Springs chiropractors will tell you is to take the time to help yourself.
- Change up your daily routine at work. Something as simple as changing your static position and forcing yourself to move around every half hour or so can have a significant effect on helping with your headaches. Poor posture has been proven to have a direct correlation with headaches.
- Stay hydrated. One of the major symptoms of dehydration is headaches. Make sure you are drinking at least 3.7 liters if you are a male and 2.7 liters if you are a female.
- Avoid excessive alcohol. Alcohol is a diuretic – it acts on your kidneys to make you pee more fluid than you're taking in. Losing fluid from your body like this can lead to dehydration, which can cause headaches.

Chiropractic adjustments have been proven to be effective for headaches, especially those that are the result of tension in your neck or upper back. Most tension headaches are the result of a misalignment in your vertebrae causing irritation to the nerves that travel through your head and neck region. Our chiropractors are here to help make sure your vertebrae are in the proper position in order to restore normal nerve function to your body, which as a result can help relieve headache pain!
